It’s only been a couple of weeks and the Tata Indian Premier League is already full of thrilling moments and performances. Each match makes it clear that this is an unpredictable, energetic, and fun season of the tournament that’ll always keep us on the edges of our seats. There’s no doubt that this season will turn out to be yet another memorable one!

So, what happened in these two weeks?

We’ll tell you all about it!

Knights at the Top

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have emerged at the top of the points table at the end of these two weeks. This team has undergone quite a lot of change over the years, and this year has a new captain, Shreyas Iyer. They have played four matches so far, and have won three. Their net run rate (run rate as compared to the opponents) is an impressive 1.102. We had mentioned this team to be one to look out for. So far, they seem to be quite the formidable line-up!

How are the new teams faring?

The Lucknow Super Giants are in second place of the points table! It seems that this new team is not here to play—or rather, just here to play! Under the captaincy of KL Rahul, they have bagged the same win and loss numbers as KKR, but with a lower net run rate.

The Gujarat Titans are at the fourth place of the points table, but have played only 3 matches so far. It seems this team too has a lot of potential.

Any surprises?

This time around, the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, normally teams that dominate the points table, seem to not be faring so well thus far. Both have played three matches and won none of them. Surely, both teams are working on strategies to regain their positions.

Perhaps it is time we see the other teams get more and more competitive and challenge these formidable teams!

Star Performer

Rahul Tewatia: On Friday, the situation was nail-bitingly tense for Gujarat Titans fans. 12 runs were to be made, and only 2 balls were remaining. Rahul Tewatia was on strike, and everyone was waiting with baited breath when he hit two back-to-back sixes and helped the Gujarat Titans secure the win against the Punjab Kings!
