The machine age has had an impact on every aspect of our lives. Nowadays we can do any of our work as quickly and easily. Machines are available for all household chores. Laundry work, which used to take time and effort in the past, can be done in a few moments today. Food can be cooked quickly and kept warm in the microwave. There are also many machines for cleaning the house, with which one can work conveniently. Due to the means of transport, we can reach anywhere quickly. Nowadays, it’s easy to visit friends and relatives who live far away. Long distances can be covered in a matter of hours. In a matter of moments, we can contact people living in any corner of the world via mobile or internet. Thus, the arrival of machines has brought about a significant change in our lives. The machine age has many benefits, but it also has some drawbacks.

For example, a computer is a very useful device. Computer has brought about a significant change in human life. Because of that all the work has become easy. At a rapid pace, it has become possible to work with precision. Nowadays, knowledge of computer is very important. Everywhere, banks, offices, colleges, etc. depend upon computers. It has also become an entertainment tool. Many videos, songs, movies etc. entertain us. We can connect with our friends through social media by email, Facebook, Twitter etc. Now, the people all across the world have come close to each other. People living in different corners of the world can see and talk to each other whenever they want.

But computers have become a compulsion. Children using computers at a young age will not be so active and agile. They may lose out on a normal life if they spend most of their time in front of a machine. Children would prefer to stay in and play computer games instead of going out and playing with their friends. This might affect their health. At the same time, they will be deprived of the pleasure of friendship and the benefits of fresh air. So, computers are a means of entertainment to some extent, but people should not be overly dependent on them.

Similarly, nowadays telephone has become an inexhaustible part of our life. It is heartening to hear it ring, informing us that a friend probably wants to talk to us. Telephones have made distances irrelevant. We can contact people living in any corner of the world immediately. During emergencies, a telephone can play an important role of getting medical or any other kind of help. But anything seems fine up to a point. If we do not want to talk to anyone, or want to live in solitude, it disrupts our peace. We get so used to the telephone that our attention is always attracted to it. We keep waiting for the phone to ring so eagerly that we’re unable to do anything else. If someone’s call does not come, we get depressed. Talking to friends for a long time etc. becomes more attractive for us and we cannot live without them. Due to which, we are not able to use time properly. Also, the expenditure on the phone becomes high. So, it has become a bit harmful as well as profitable.

So, in conclusion, machines are invaluable in saving our time and labour but need to be used cautiously and in moderation.
