“You must find the shameless thief, Inspector. You must, you must, must!” screeched Mr. Gasagela. “That was my prized Kashmiri rose plant, and one of my good-for-nothing neighbours has definitely pinched it!”
Inspector Satya was already tired of Mr. Gasagela. The rumours about him were true; he was indeed an unpleasant man who picked petty quarrels with his neighbours. But he was also a skilled gardener who had won many prizes at gardening competitions. He had hoped to enter his Kashmiri rose in the upcoming Biggest Phool contest. “The three I told you about are also competing with Kashmiri roses!” Mr. Gasagela exclaimed. “What more of a motive do you need to investigate?!”
“I’m on it,” Inspector Satya said as she left his flat. She checked her notes and decided to talk to the three suspicious neighbours first.
After speaking to them, Inspector Satya knew who the thief was. This would be the quickest case she solved.
Who was the thief and how did she figure it out?
